Set Apart: Holy Habits of Prophets and Kings

Day: Wednesdays, April 11th - May 23rd, 2018
Time: 9:30 - 11:15 a.m.
Location: Center for Spiritual Renewal
Leaders: Sally Watkins, Laurie Bohlke, Lynn Hughes
Child Care Provided: Yes
Cost: $20

Set Apart is a dynamic small group/DVD study of 1 and 2 Kings that examines the holy habits of six prophets and kings who were set apart from the other leaders by their close walk with God. Each week we will explore the central story of one of these intriguing men of God and the specific practice each observed, as well as what the Bible teaches about this practice. The six are: Solomon, Elijah, Elisha, Naaman, Hezekiah, and Josiah.

Each was trying to follow God while carrying out his calling on earth, but even these prophets and kings struggled with their faith. The specific spiritual practices that helped them to grow in their faith were: being consecrated to God, listening to God, mentoring, practicing humility, worshiping God, and discovering God's word. We'll discover how to use these timeless practices to draw closer to God and to follow His unique purposes for us.

Writing Class

Date: 3rd Tuesday of the Month
6:00pm - 8:00pm
Location: Center for Spiritual Renewal
Leader: Amy Jurskis

Each of us has a story to tell, and by looking carefully at our
memories, we can see how God's hand has been at work along the way. Writing your life story can be an act of meditation, healing, and ultimately praise. By using examples from spiritual memoirs by a range of authors along with guided writing prompts, this class will help guide you to write your own memoir, paying close
attention to the big and small God moments along the way. Each class will include time for workshopping and sharing works in progress along with a short reading followed by a writing exercise and prompts to work on before the next class.

The class is led by Amy Jurskis, English Teacher - Oxbridge Academy.
