Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a one-to-one lay caregiving ministry at JupiterFirst Church. A Stephen Ministry congregation equips and empowers lay caregivers - called Stephen Ministers - to provide high quality, confidential, Christ-centered  care to people who are hurting. JupiterFirst is proud to offer this outreach to its congregation and as an opportunity for congregates who are called to this ministry.

When the Stephen Ministers have completed their training, they will be commissioned and ready to begin their ministry. They will be available to meet weekly with people experiencing life challenges. While being a Stephen Minister requires commitment of time and effort, it may be one of the most rewarding challenges you will ever embrace. Think and pray about this opportunity. If you are interested in learning more about training and serving as a Stephen Minister, please talk with one of our Stephen Leaders, or read about the Stephen Ministry national program online.

For more information, or if you or someone you know could benefit from this ministry, please contact Donna Totino at 561-747-8340.

The "AFTER PEOPLE"

People often ask, "What exactly is a Stephen Minister?"

One way to put it is that Stephen Ministers are the After People.

Stephen Minister are there:

  • after the phone call you hoped you'd never get.
  • after the divorce papers are served.
  • after the funeral, when everyone else has left and the emotions you've head at bay come crashing in on you.
  • after the last child honks the horn, waves and drives away and the house seems suddenly empty.
  • after the baby arrives, demanding more of you than you ever dreamed possible.
  • after you find a pink slip with your final paycheck.
  • after your family and friends have heard your story one too many times, but you still need to talk it out.

Stephen Ministers are the "After People". They are ready to come alongside you - or your friends, neighbors, coworkers or relatives - and provide comfort and support for as long after as needed.
