"Not all those who wander are lost."
—J.R.R. Tolkien

I took a winding road to the pastorate ...and to JupiterFIRST Church.

Though I grew up in a religious home and attended church from the womb, I spent a good part of my life actively avoiding God's greatest dreams for me. I loved God, but as the years went by I was increasingly less sure about his church. I never could seem to find my place in the church, and the church seemed to be looking less-and-less like the Bible.

It wasn't until my early 30's that I relented and said, "Not my fears, God, but your dreams!" I wanted to be a part of transforming the church for the good of world... but mostly, for the good of my children. I wanted them to have a church family that build up their faith, rather than destroy it.

Entering the pastorate, I found that my fears were largely validated. What I saw and experienced in many USAmerican churches simply didn't seem to resonate much with the world outside of the church walls, and truth be told, it was resonating less and less with me.

"Is this all that there is, God?"

Do you ever find yourself longing for something more? I do. I longed for something deeper, something richer, something grander.

I dreamt of a church where all were welcome, joy was contagious, diversity was encouraged, and grace was extravagant. I longed for a church without pretense, where simple truths and Christ were central. I wanted a place where the rich traditions of the ancient church effortlessly mixed with the complex nuances of a modern culture. In short, I wanted to pastor in a place that would put a smile on Christ's face.

I had almost given up when I happened across JupiterFIRST Church, and I immediately knew that I had found home. Because of my winding path to the pastorate, you will find that I am a very non-traditional minister. I fit in well here, and so will you. JupiterFIRST Church is unique; it stands out as being different among much of the modern church landscape.

While I could try and tell you why JupiterFIRST Church stands out, it is probably better for you to experience it firsthand.

When you come, will you make sure to introduce yourself to me? I'd like to hear your story as well!
